Experience the Caribbean – my top 5

The Caribbean offers so many great places that it is sometimes almost difficult to decide where to go when preparing your trip. Depending on the island, there are also other activities and sights on the program – e.g. diving, climbing a volcano, exploring the rainforest, lying on the beach and enjoying the sun… I haven’t traveled to all the islands yet, but I would like to introduce you to my current Caribbean favorites.

1. By boat from island to island

Despite all the prejudices against cruises, I dared to go on such a ship for the first time this year and came to the conclusion that it is the best means of transport for the Caribbean. Arriving on a new island every day and physically experiencing the journey in between is something great!

2. Strandnachmittag in Tortola

I found my favorite beach in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. White sand in your feet, blue sea in your field of vision, rays of sunshine on your skin and a fruity rum drink in your hand – there’s absolutely nothing to complain about

3. Great views in Antigua

From the Shirley Heights in Antigua you have a wonderful view of an impressive piece of “Caribbean history”, the English Harbour. This naval base used to be an important hub in the history of the conquest and discovery of the Caribbean and the defense of the interests of the various colonial powers.

4. Atlantic Coast of Barbados

In addition to the light blue, quiet Caribbean coast, Barbados also has a wild side. The Atlantic coast is characterized by a constant rush of wind, jagged stones and impressive surf. This side is definitely not suitable for swimming, but you can take beautiful lonely walks on the beach or simply enjoy nature.

5. Duty-free shopping on Sint Maarten

On some islands, such as Sint Maarten, duty-free shopping is very popular. I didn’t buy anything, but I found strolling through the alleys very amusing. Philipsburg has a very nice landing passage, which is only a cross street away from the beach and many beach restaurants, so you can easily escape the shopping stress.
