Golden autumn moments on Instagram

So here it is, the wet, cold November. And with him, it’s time again for the #igTravelThursday, which is now taking place with monthly Linky. This autumn I had to smile in between. The topic of Instagram was suddenly taken up by various media in Switzerland. It was discussed, Instameets took place and lists were made. So far so good. A year ago, I tried to convince all kinds of people of the potential and usually only got a tired smile with the side remark “there are only American teenagers on it”. Well. But since I have also read countless poorly researched reports with so-called tips or the perceived three thousandth list with “the 10 best apps for Instagram” in connection with all the hype, I deliberately refrain from throwing around wise words this month and discreetly refer to my post “my recipe for success“.

Since I never got around to showing you my Insta moments due to the change from weekly to monthly throughout autumn, today I have a colorful review of a fabulous autumn. I hope yours was so nice too!

A new discovery of the familiar

For the #wasunsbewegt campaign, I went to South Tyrol for a longer weekend at the beginning of September. Due to the inability of the Italian and Austrian railways to link international connections in a meaningful way, the train passenger from Zurich to Bolzano has to wait a good hour in Innsbruck. My favourite place to bridge the waiting time is the roof terrace of the design hotel Adlers, within walking distance of the train station. Espresso with a view! In keeping with the campaign motto, we explored the South Tyrolean valleys in the sunniest late summer weather and got to know interesting people who told us what moves them day in and day out.

Malcantone – anything but a bad canton

Ticino gave us just as wonderful weather. Anyway, unlike the wet summer months, at least we can’t complain about bad autumn weather. In Ticino, we hiked through secluded chestnut forests and found a new favorite vantage point high above the Gulf of Agno.

Marrakech – Oriental Dreamtime

The trip to Morocco was definitely one of my most exotic this year. Surprisingly, it was neither scorching hot in Marakech nor did the sun shine mercilessly on our heads all day. One morning even a small downpour emptied. In terms of weather, however, the ideal conditions to explore the countless winding alleys for hours on foot.

Lac de Joux – a jewel in Vaud

In the western tip of Switzerland lies the high valley Vallée de Joux with the beautiful Lac de Joux. The valley is not only known for the numerous local watch manufacturers, but also for the Vacherin Mont-d’Or. The love of cheese is celebrated in the village of Charbonnières at the end of September. I also tested myself through the cheese variations.

Lombardy – Italy off the beaten track

The #blogville project was launched in 2012 as part of a collaboration between iAmbassador and the Emilia Romagna Region Tourist Board. After two successful years, the Lombardy region was integrated into the project for the first time this year. For four days we explored pretty towns around Milan and tasted our way to divine food.

Lower Engadine in autumn garb

The weekend in the Lower Engadine was a dream in terms of landscape. I have never been rained on as hard as on the hike over the Macun plateau, but the autumnal color spectacle made us forget the dripping wet shoes.

Underrated beauty of the Ossola Valleys

The Engadine weekend was followed by a second hiking weekend in the Ossola valleys. So far, I didn’t associate the area with much more than the Saturday market in Domodossola, which was overrun by German-speaking Swiss, and the train connection through the Centovalli. I was surprised to find out that Domodossola has a very pretty center and the countless valleys are perfect for long autumn hikes. However, you should bring some adventurous spirit with you. The hiking trails lead in stages through almost impenetrable thickets.

Dalmatian Coastal Love

I’m still completely blown away by Croatia. What wonderful scenery, what epic sunrises and sunsets and what pretty villages. I have already shown you how beautiful Dubrovnik is in the early morning hours, for example. More posts will follow soon and if you get the wanderlust while looking at these pictures, then you will find many more great impressions on Instagram under the hashtag #loveCroatia.

Autumnal mountain lake fun

A spontaneous autumn excursion took us to the Flims lakes (Lake Cauma and Lake Cresta). It can easily be done as a day trip from Zurich and in the off-season you have the fairytale forest and its lakes almost to yourself.

Heimatglück

Last but not least, we spent a home weekend in Zurich, which is really very rare. With a visit to the cinema at RiffRaff, a cozy dinner at Studer’s, an epic sunrise on the Uetliberg and a delicious brunch at Zum Guten Glück, an all-round perfect Zurich weekend.

Before we ring in the winter in style with Christmas markets and snow stories just in time for December, we use November for two short city trips. This much can be revealed, they do not lead to a neighboring country, one leads to the south and one to the east.

Which cities would you recommend for a city trip in November?
