Zurich West gourmet tip: Steinfels
Since my great new compact camera (you don’t always need a big “gun”) has the fantastic mode “Gourmet” with the description “shoots food to look delicious” (!), I thought that this would be the ideal time to start a new series on my blog. Zurich West is my new home, both professionally and privately, and as a dynamic development area, it has a number of culinary gems and special features to offer. Since I love to discover new restaurants, I would like to introduce you to my personal favorites in the future and start with my very personal burger paradise – the Restaurant Steinfels.
Between Hardbrücke station and Escher-Wyss-Platz is the Steinfels brewery, which produces real Zurich West beer ;-). The adjoining restaurant is separated from the brewery only by a pane of glass and offers interesting insights into everyday brewery life. In addition to burgers, the Steinfels restaurant also offers pasta dishes, salads and soups. But if the burger selection is so great, there is no better alternative for me as a burger lover. Another plus is the house beer fresh from the brewery and the homemade iced tea.
Our menu:
– Steinfels Hausbier 50cl, 7.90 CHF
– Homemade iced tea 50cl, 8.00 CHF
– Pretzel mit Schnittlauch-Dip, 7.50 CHF
– Steinfels Burger, 23.60 CHF
– Manhattan Burger, 29.60 CHF
If desired, bacon, cheese and/or fried egg can be ordered with all burgers.
The restaurant itself is designed in a colourful 70’s retro style and offers comfortable seating areas, ideal for a Friday evening before going to the cinema or concert.
