14 travel ideas for 2014

Tomorrow morning we fly to Finland. We will be on the road in southern Finland for a week and I hope the snow will accompany me there (so far it has been unusually mild for the time of year in the south of Finland). We will celebrate New Year’s Eve in Helsinki (tips are welcome) and start 2014 in travel mode.

More destinations for 2014 are already buzzing around wildly in my head. Even though I’m not the bucket list type – things always turn out differently than planned anyway – I’ve put together 14 travel ideas for the coming year. Where do you want to go?

1. Slovenia – Picnic by the romantic Lake Bled and then head to the Slovenian Mediterranean coast

Update: Mission accomplished –> Here are more pictures of the little blue gem

Lake Bled-Slovenia-30

2. Belgium – Eating Chocolate, Waffles and French Fries Comma

Nidelva-Kanu

4. Scotland – Finding Nessie

5. Sardinia – Swim in the blue-green Mediterranean Sea

6. Comer See – George Clooney aufspüren (what else? ;))

Update: Mission quasi completed – the date was postponed but I fell in love
with Varenna

7. Tuscany – Start a Vespa road trip through the hill towns of Tuscany from Florence

Update: Mission quasi completed – I was in Florence (and that was a bit of a disaster) and I was also in Tuscany (and discovered a place for special moments there), but the one with the Vespa road trip… next time ;)

Piazzale Michelangelo-47

8. Visit Croatia – The Whitewater Wonderland – Plitvice Lakes National Park

9. Budapest – Stroll through the golden pearl on the Danube

Update: Mission accomplished –> Click here for the tips for Budapest.

10. Regensburg and Quedlingburg – Marvel at medieval masterpieces

a not at all dusty but youthful, lively Regensburg

11. Hainich National Park – Spot a wildcat from the treetop path

12. Provence – Soar through lavender fields

13. Ticino – Hike along the Maggia and jump into the cool water in between
