Ahoy sunny winter weekend
Looking at the weather forecast makes my heart light up. This winter, the sun hasn’t been too kind to us yet and usually it has the feeling of disappearing under the covers on the weekend. But now finally the finest winter weather is announced and this with the great snow conditions. Well, let’s hope that the weather forecasters weren’t mistaken and that the sunny weather actually arrives. For those who are still undecided about what to do on the weekend, here are my two favorite activities:
Ticino and the lowest point in Switzerland
If you don’t feel like the white splendour despite ideal snow conditions, I recommend a break on the sunny side of Switzerland. Last weekend I took a little train ride to Locarno in Ticino and I can guarantee you, even three hours of Italian flair work wonders. In Locarno, you can either stroll along the beautiful waterfront or enjoy a delicious café in the Piazza Grande.
To enjoy a phenomenal view, you can reach Orselina in a few minutes from Locarno by funicular and from there by cable car on the Cardada (1,340 m above sea level). On the Cardada, it has a viewpoint from where the lowest point in Switzerland, Lake Maggiore, and the highest point, the Dufourspitze, can be seen. The panoramic view is absolutely fantastic.
