Klewenalp – head cinema and wanderlust quencher

At the beginning of March, we had arranged to meet up with friends to go skiing. Are you from Basel, us from Zurich and the question of which ski resort would be best suited for a day trip in this situation? Engelberg, Melchsee-Frutt and Klewenalp were up for discussion. I didn’t know any of the three ski resorts, but I knew that the Klewenalp offers a unique view of Lake Lucerne. “Hey friends, how about the Klewenalp? The panorama from up there is fantastic!”

So it was my fault that we stood disoriented on the Klewenalp at 10.00 a.m. in the thickest fog on the Sunday in question. For the following hours we drove at a snail’s pace from post to post, slowly feeling our way through the ski area and imagining what it would look like without fog. Mental cinema moments par excellence. Nevertheless, we got lost head over heels next to the slopes (yes, you can take that literally). We experienced the aha moment after an extended lunch break with cheese spaetzle and cheese slices, when we saw the Klewenalp in front of us thanks to the clearing clouds and finally knew where we were. But the lake stubbornly hid and only showed itself to us again down in Beckenried.

So that you don’t get depressed because of all the fog pictures, I have three wonderful links for entertaining travel planning. Actually, the links are more of a reminder to myself, because I studied for about half an hour today due to current events, as this super ingenious website for spontaneous wanderlust sufferers was called…

There you go:

If you want to leave, no matter where – then click here: Drungli.com

If you want to get from A to B by public transport, here’s the ultimate route suggestion: Rome2Rio.com

By the way, thanks to this website, I noticed that the fastest way from Zurich to Lienz is not via Salzburg (and takes 8 hours) but we can change to a bus in Innsbruck and are thus an incredible two hours faster!

Almost exactly a year ago, I had a Florida road trip on my agenda. If you have a road trip coming up in the near future, you should take a look here: Roadtrippers.com
