Copenhagen – InstaTour through the world’s best capital
When Bo, architect and tour guide, talks about his city, the word “world’s best” comes up again and again. They want to become the world’s best cycling city, they already have the world’s best restaurant and if you believe various surveys, it is also the city with the world’s best quality of life. One thing quickly becomes clear, we can take a leaf out of the book of the Danes’ self-confidence. Where we Swiss fail again and again in our search for the perfect solution and self-criticism, the Danes succeed in their forward thrust and pragmatism. We took a closer look at the world’s best cycle paths and found that in many places there are still gaps or only moderately successful connections. But that’s not the point. It’s simply a matter of attitude. And that’s why today I’m pleading for a little more self-confidence and show you my snapshots from Copenhagen.
Beautiful evening atmosphere at Zurich Airport
We bike Copenhagen
The most obvious means of transport to make Copenhagen unsafe. But be careful, there is a lot of traffic on the bike paths.
Colorful houses, cobblestones and bicycles – the typical appearance of the old town
The many restaurants in Nyhavn are suitable for a short lunch break – e.g. the historic Cap Horn with excellent cuisine
Right next to the Nyhavn, opposite the opera house, is the new RoyalTheatre with a magnificent glass façade (through which I :) made this rather confused-looking picture). The building was designed by the Danish firm Lundgaard & Tranberg and has received various awards.
Copenhagen is crisscrossed by glittering water arms that reach far into the city. The main canal, which flows into the Öresund, is served by public water taxis that connect the districts. Equally important are the numerous pedestrian and bicycle bridges.
Christianshavn
Copenhagen is not only blue, but also has many charming green spots
Ørestad is Copenhagen’s youngest district and a true mecca for urban planners and architecture fans.
And as soon as the sun is shining, almost all Copenhageners cycle to Amagerstrand in no time at all and jump into the 15-degree warm Öresund.
And what do you think? Is Copenhagen really the world’s best capital?
