Bergisel in Innsbruck

Curvy Bergisel – #Frifotos

Before my stay in Innsbruck, I got the tip from the nice Mela, who also runs a super exciting travel blog, to visit the Bergisel ski jump. It turned out that this is really a great tip: Firstly, the panorama from up there is fantastic, secondly, it is really impressive to experience such a ski jump live and thirdly, the ski jump is great for this week’s Frifoto theme “Curves”.

The Bergisel offers three great curves – the inrun ramp, the landing area and the tower. Although I wasn’t really aware that the landing area is U-shaped and that the ski jumpers go up to brake like in a halfpipe.

The tower was designed by the architect Zaha Hadid (realized 2001-2002) and anyone who knows her buildings a little knows that she likes curvy shapes and her buildings rarely have straight shapes. At the top of the tower there is a viewing platform and one level below there is a nice café with a magnificent view.

Adults pay 9 euros for a single kick and I think this price is definitely worth a visit!
