Hurray, winter is here!

The night before yesterday, the snowflakes finally made it to Zurich. Of course, winter weather usually brings with it the unsightly mess and traffic chaos in the city. Be that as it may, we have four seasons here and each has its beautiful side and the constant gossip about Peter doesn’t make it any better. That’s why I’ve decided for this winter to really follow through with the winter program in all its facets.

I’m really looking forward to the next two months. There are some fantastic destinations on my itinerary and I can’t wait to take you all on a virtual winter journey. We can look forward to these highlights:

Five Glaciers and One Adventure

If you’re reading this, then I’m already on my way to Tyrol. Last winter we made our first turns in the Axamer Lizum ski area and this year we are aiming high. My new skis are inaugurated in Sölden and then conquer the Pitztal, Kaunertal, Stubai and Hintertux glaciers. We are excited to see what we will experience in Tyrol.

Weihnachtsmarktromantik

After the glacier fun, I will prepare for the contemplative time of the year in Salzburg and Nuremberg. Mulled wine and gingerbread here I come!

Where is the Magic Mountain

In Davos and Klosters we will have two weekends to research the myth of the Magic Mountains. Do you know what that is all about?

Northward

Who flies to Finland during the Christmas holidays? Well, as I said, we are consistent this winter and what could be better than the land of Rudolf with the red nose. What exactly we do there except freeze, get a red nose and wait for sparse sunlight, is not so clear to us yet… but, I mean it’s Finland. In case of emergency, we spend the week in a sauna.

Am Limit

After Finland we should be hardy and therefore we will spend the night in South Tyrol (yes, it gets cold there) at 2,000 m above sea level in a tent. Yes, you read that right Z-e-l-t. Um, I don’t remember exactly what I was thinking.

Swiss Winter Wonderland

If we survive the overnight stay in the tent, which is to be hoped, then we will (hopefully!) enjoy the powder snow in the beautiful Swiss ski resorts for the rest of January.

I think my permanent grin is quite justified from all these great plans, isn’t it? What excites me the most is that I was able to shape the winter all by myself according to my wishes and there are an incredible number of great people who share my enthusiasm for winter tourism and support me in implementing my plans.

All of you are also a great source of inspiration and I am always happy about tips and comments. Last year, for example, I heard so many great things about Lenzerheide that I said to myself “I have to see and experience it myself”. So if you know great winter destinations and/or activities, then I’m looking forward to insider tips :).
