InstaTour – A weekend in and around Zurich

Drum roll! As some of you know, I’m an avid Instagram user. It’s just an unbelievably great inspiration platform. If you’re also on Instagram and also like to travel around the world, then you may have already stumbled across the #IGTravelThursday hashtag. Well, does that sound familiar to you?

Instagram Travel Thursday is a weekly project and from now on Mela from Morgenmuffel.in, Jana from Sonne & Wolken and I are hosting the German-language edition. All interested bloggers and Instagrammers are invited to participate under the hashtag #IGTravelThursday on Instagram and to publish a weekly article on the topics of “travel” and “Instagram” on their blog. In order to collect the resulting blog posts and make them visible to others, you will find a current #IGTravelThursday article every Thursday at Mela, Jana and me, under which you can link your post in the link widget.

A detailed description of Instagram Travel Thursday, the conditions of participation as well as DOs and DON’Ts can be found on this page.

To kick off the first German-language edition of Instagram Travel Thursday, I’m taking you on an “InstaTour” in and around Zurich. Although I’ve been living here for a few years now, I still don’t know a lot of corners. This is partly due to the fact that I rarely spend the weekends here. So it’s all the nicer when you discover your own city like a tourist.

Saturday – 1st time hiking with ballerinas

On Saturday, the sun outside was shining so tempting that I came up with the crazy idea of hiking with ballerinas. With Luxemburgerli as emergency provisions (as I said, I was on the road like a real tourist) I took the S-Bahn to Effretikon. The goal was a short hike from Effretikon to the Örmis nature reserve near Illnau and from there back to Effretikon. Actually not a big deal, if it hadn’t been for the thing with the ballerinas…

Sunday – 1st brunch in Zurich

We started Sunday leisurely with a delicious and inexpensive brunch in the cozy restaurant “Dini Mueter” in District 5. It is recommended to reserve a place in advance. After brunch we walked through the alleys of the old town with a mandatory photo stop on the Quai Bridge. We spent the afternoon in the somewhat quieter district 4 with a coffee and cake stop at the viaduct.

Do you geotag your Instagram pictures? If so, then click on the geotag after the image is uploaded and see what other pictures were taken at this point. So I have already discovered great photo spots that I would have missed otherwise.
