InstaTour – Carinthia in a square
Last week we spent a long weekend in Carinthia under the motto “Seenlust”. This spring I touched Carinthia for the first time, on the second leg of our train journey through Austria, Slovenia and Italy. At that time, we used a two-hour stay in Villach – due to the train transfer times – for a stroll through the pretty old town. Funnily enough, this time we arrived just the other way around. Carinthia is not necessarily easy to reach from Switzerland. Direct flights from Zurich to Klagenfurt no longer exist. Alternatives are Salzburg, Graz and Ljubljana – or by night train via Salzburg.
Surprisingly, a small hop of Adria Airways brought us 20 minutes faster than planned (with a flight time of one hour, that’s a decent performance) to Ljubljana. From there, the journey continued by minibus. Passing Bled and with a short traffic jam at the toll booth in Jesenice, we reached Neusach am Weissensee two hours later. Idyllic area, sparkling lake – so far everything is perfect. Only the sun didn’t stick to the program and hardly showed up. We were not deterred by this and explored the lake by e-bike and on a raft including cuddly dog companionship. The very brave even dared to jump into the lake. I confess I pinched.

Raft trip on Lake Weissensee
In Carinthia there is a suitable lake for every taste. Personally, I liked Lake Weissensee very much thanks to its remote location and tranquility. On the third day, Lake Millstatt had a hard time. Where the aristocrats from Vienna used to build their summer residence, magnificent villas still remind us of this glorious time. Otherwise, the area seems a bit dusty. As if she was still reveling in the “summer retreat”.
That’s why I came here for my rowing premiere. Surprisingly, the coordination was not a problem, but I almost failed to hold the oars properly in my hands… Afterwards we hiked from the Lammersdorfer Hütte through drizzle to the Jufenkreuz. At the top of the summit I let out a joyful shout, as the clouds had kindly left a peephole open on Lake Millstatt. Since we dutifully shared the Kaiserschmarrn in the hut, the sun took pity on the last day and let Lake Millstatt shine in the sunlight. Our conclusion, the lake lust a lot into the water – but now we feel like seeing more ;).

Instagram-Wochentipp:
Instagram has launched a Hyperlapse app for Apple users this week (we Androiders can wait a little longer). And if you want to know where and how others edit their pictures, you will find an interesting article about it here. First of all, Snapseed and VSCO are mentioned the most.
