#KaplanExperience – off to North West England

„The boss is very angry about the number of errors we’ve been making“
“Right, we’d _____ not make any more mistakes”

What?!

Well, who of you knows with which word the gap has to be filled correctly? 55 Such sentences are written on the sheet I have just filled in. It’s called the “Pre-Arrival Test”. In many fields I have written the – according to me – correct word in no time at all. But in between there were really big question marks, I simply didn’t want to think of the right answer.

Now you might be wondering why I take care of English vocabulary and grammar in the middle of the week. Well, next week I have another challenge on my agenda. I’m flying to Liverpool on Saturday to attend a Business English course with Kaplan International next week. I’m super excited! My only language stay so far was more than 10 years ago. When I was almost 15 years old, my parents (they only meant well for me) sent me to Malta for two weeks to polish up my English. By the way, at that time I found English to be the most frightening language in the world and loved French more than anything. In the meantime, preferences have shifted somewhat. But I still remember my time in Malta with mixed feelings.

Well, language stays also deserve a second chance and so I embark on an adventure again. I will attend school in Liverpool and live with a host family in New Brighton – opposite Liverpool. Immediately after registering for the course, I received the access data for an online learning tool from Kaplan to prepare, I have also already emailed my host mom and now I hope that I will excel in the pre-arrival test. So far so good.

Oh yes, in addition to learning English, there are also all the great activities in and around Liverpool. A day trip to Snowdonia (Wales) is booked. Then, of course, I have to see the Albert Dock and “Another Place” by Antony Gormley and walk through Liverpool in the footsteps of the Beatles. Furthermore, I am still thinking about how I can fit a trip to Chester and Manchester into my 28-lesson schedule and whether I should take another trip to the Lake District. Decision, Decision… Maybe you also have one or the other tip for me in store?!

On Instagram, I’ve already clicked through x pictures for travel inspiration. In any case, these recordings make you want to take a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to the upcoming language trip to the unknown northwest of England!
