Snapshot – Best viewpoint in Milan

Has it ever happened to you that you have visited a place that you have only ever heard bad things about before (through the media, friends, etc.)? Something like this has happened to me twice. The first time I visited Mexico City and the second time on my first visit to Milan. I don’t really know why, but somehow I was convinced that Milan is dirty, there are too many cars driving around and it’s just too rushed. When you hear so many bad things about a place, it can only get better… Nevertheless, I was surprised by all the pretty squares and alleys that Milan has to offer.

Viewpoint – Duomo of Milan

The first thing I did was to “climb” the beautiful cathedral. In cities, I like the view from towers, roof terraces or other vantage points. I know that these viewpoints are usually very touristy and yet photographing a city from above is a must for me on a city trip.

In the picture you can see the Piazza del Duomo in a bird’s eye view. It is only in this perspective that the beautiful pattern of the square becomes visible. I found it really fascinating that I didn’t notice it at all when I was standing in the middle of the square. The climb to the cathedral roof terrace was definitely worth it and Milan surprised me several times later.
