One night in Frankfurt
This May has indeed been stingy with the sun. Even more so in Frankfurt, where it really rained and almost non-stop during my whole visit. Since the city presented itself in grey, we were all the more happy about the colorful accommodation for one night. After Vienna we were allowed to spend another night in a 25hours hotel. This time we stayed at the 25hours Hotel by Levis in Frankfurt’s Bahnhofsviertel. The name says it all here as well and the jeans touch consistently runs through the design, which was conceived by the two designers Delphine Buhro and Michael Dreher.
Each floor reflects a decade of the 20th century. Our room was on the 5th floor, with the design theme of the 70’s. The playful details and colourful accessories make the room a real design treasure trove. On the wall, for example, hangs a pair of Levi’s jeans, which I first thought “oh, someone forgot his pants”. And last but not least, we felt like we were in a photographer’s paradise. So many creative refinements to capture – I apologize for the flood of images :). The only negative point is the carpeting, which I hate. Somehow, however, this one fit into the overall concept of the room design.
Since the weather outside was so bad, we decided not to look for a long restaurant and reserved a place in Chez Ima, which is located in the hotel. Here I experienced my most embarrassing moment of 2013 (at least I hope it doesn’t get worse). Coming from the room, I asked the first gentleman where our reserved seats were. He looked at me in passing, slightly amused, and said “well, somewhere in the restaurant, I suppose” and went on. I was quite irritated until I realized that this gentleman was also a guest (and not a waiter). We were then seated by the right waiter nicely vis-à-vis the corresponding gentleman (and his company). I was probably his amusement of the evening. By the way, the food (for me there was a Habibi salad – huge portion! – and lamb knuckle) was delicious!
Thanks to the great location near the train station, we were able to start Monday at an unusually late hour at the breakfast buffet and then walk comfortably to the train station and continue in the direction of Zurich.
Conclusion: Another 25hours hotel that meets my taste. I especially like the imaginative handling of everyday things and the humorous details.
Note: I was invited by the 25hours Hotel Frankfurt by Levis – thank you very much for this. As always, my readers can be sure that I always represent my views and enthusiasm here.
