One night in Vienna
I used the Fridays on Ascension Day for a short city trip to Vienna (more on that to come) and in this context I was allowed to get a taste of the 25hours Hotel Spektakel at the Museum Quartier (called MQ) for one night and am thrilled. An absolutely fantastic design hotel – exactly to my taste. I especially liked the temporary charm of the design. True to the circus motto, improvisation is in the foreground. I find it exciting that a new building was not built for the creation of the hotel, but a former student dormitory from the 1970s was “recycled” and transformed into a modern appearance by BWM Architects.
Here are my 15 ultimate reasons why the 25hours Hotel is worth a visit:
1. Central location, close to the Volkstheater metro station and in close proximity to Mumok
2. “We are all mad here” – we love crazy places, don’t we?
3. Great entrance area with billboard column and comfortable armchairs
4. And yes – there’s an old black and white photo booth!
5. All rooms are individually designed – what they have in common is the colourful variety
6. Some rooms have a bathtub with a view (definitely my highlight)
7. The beds seem to wear high heels – you almost feel like you’re on a magic carpet
8. It’s right next to a small park
9. There is a food truck from the 25hours Hotel (Burger de Ville) in the park – be sure to try the French fries variations!
10. While riding the elevator, claustrophobia is treated at the same time
11. At the top, the rooftop terrace (where there is also a bar) offers a great view over the MQ, the Parliament and the Palace of Justice
12. Hungry bellies are provided with great pizza creations in the stylishly furnished 1500 Foodmakers
13. The breakfast buffet also satisfies almost every wish – I definitely liked it
14. Bicycles can be borrowed free of charge – be careful, it’s worth getting up early when the weather is nice – the bikes are quickly gone
15. And last but not least, I really felt almost at home and slept heavenly
and yes, I would have liked to take extra hours here – see you next time Vienna
What do you prefer for a city trip – slightly crazy design hotels or rather tried and tested hotel rooms?
Note: I was invited by the 25hours Hotel Vienna – thank you very much for this. As always, my readers can be sure that I always represent my views and enthusiasm here.
