The white Paris including burgers

Paris has so many beautiful corners, almost every walk becomes a highlight. But one of my favorite neighborhoods is definitely Paris Montmartre, where strolling is particularly fun. Montmartre – what comes to mind – Moulin Rouge, Cancan, Toulouse-Lautrec, Place du Tertre and of course the sugar-sweet Sacré-Coeur, which towers high above the narrow streets of Montmartre.

Montmartre, the former artists’ village, was for a long time a very rural area, where even wine was still grown. Even today, you can still feel something of this very special flair of the place and discover great corners. A nice walk leads from the Cimentière de Montmartre, past the infamous Moulin Rouge high up to the pompous Sacré-Coeur Cathedral. I actually think the cathedral is quite pretty, but as we all know, you can argue about taste. My tip is to definitely tackle the stairs up to the cathedral, because the panoramic view far over Paris is impressive.

When I looked at my pictures at home, I was totally surprised that everything looks so white. You might really think that Paris has been inspired by the cathedral and shines in a white glow. Or maybe it was just the somewhat special lighting conditions on this autumn afternoon :-). In any case, I could spend hours on this viewpoint and just enjoy the view.

By the way, on the photo above you can see me taking a very tourist-like mobile phone photo and then showing it to you on Instagram. It’s just handy if you have a photographer with the Canon with you for the good photos ;-).

Around the Sacré-Coeur there is a variety of very touristy restaurants. Personally, I recommend leaving these to the left and instead having a culinary refreshment at La Fourmi in the middle of Montmartre, on the Rue des Martyrs. The restaurant attracts mainly young people, is very uncomplicated, cheap and has very tasty burgers. I know, I don’t have such high standards as a gourmet, but as long as there are burgers (with fries & salad), I’m happy.
