Blogger insider tips for Barcelona

Unexpected comes, hopes! Yes, and that’s why I’m flying to Barcelona today – unexpectedly, without a plan but with a lot of fun in my hand luggage. Reason for the trip? Soak up the sun, celebrate my birthday (not mine), satisfy my longing for Gaudí’s buildings and breathe in the sea air. Sounds reasonable, right?

Since there was no time for travel preparation (for reasons), I asked some travel bloggers Gschpänli (yes, that’s Swiss German) for insider tips on Twitter and received a lot of great input.

According to Laura-Lee (@TheTraveLLette), who has been living in Barcelona for a year, it is worth visiting the Mercat Fira de Bellcaire, the oldest and largest flea market in Barcelona. As another tip, she recommends the Jardins del Palau de Pedralbes – as you know, I always like roayale gardens. It’s a pity that I didn’t go to La Mercè in town (an event tip from Laura-Lee) – I’m sure I would have liked this colorful event.

@Hotspotbcn The name of the blog “Let’s go to Barcelona” already indicates that someone here knows and loves his city. I really liked his tip to visit the courtyard of the Catalan National Library. I hope I find the time for it!

Nicole (@ninotsch) from Freibeuter Reisen is also a local resident. Her culinary tip is Mme Jasmin. Sounds promising.

Martina (@TalkaroundtheW) is a self-confessed Barcelona fan. On her blog, she has summarized the city’s hotspots. In second place, she mentions Columbus’ Column, which I can’t remember at all. Well, I hope I don’t miss it again this time.

Anja (@travelontoast) was recently in Barcelona and discovered the city on foot – great thing, I’m a self-confessed pedestrian with all the consequences (such as totally flat feet in the evening). She also told me that the Gracia district is her personal favorite.

Lots of inputs for a short tweet out into the travel world and a lot to do for me in Barcelona :). Who else of you actively uses Twitter for travel preparation and/or travel planning and what are your experiences?
