Travel tips: My Swiss summer destinations

How time flies! Summer is approaching with seven-league boots. It’s high time to think about where you would like to spend the long summer days. My motto is: I spend the winter and summer in Switzerland. This summer will also be all about Swissness for me from the end of June to the end of July and I am incredibly looking forward to returning to places I have come to love and discovering new places. After I already presented you with my mountain lake bucket list in spring (that alone keeps me busy for a while), today I’m going to show you my five personal summer top spots.

Gantrisch Nature Park – unknown beauty

The Gantrisch Nature Park means home to me. I grew up very close by and always like to return to the beautiful area in the Bernese Prealps. The nature park itself attracts visitors with beautiful hiking trails, refreshing mountain lakes and unique views of the Alps. In addition to the nature park, I have another insider tip for this area: Take advantage of a beautiful summer’s day to visit the most beautiful lido in Switzerland.

Creux du Van – the Grand Canyon of Switzerland

It’s worth taking a closer look at Tobias Meyer’s Instagram feed. He is often out and about in the area around Aarberg, Bern and in the Bernese Jura and takes great pictures. I’m a bit jealous of his awesome picture of the Creux du Van. So I have no choice but to go on a circular hike around the Grand Canyon of Switzerland again this summer.

Appenzell – Pure
nature

The picture of the Aescher mountain inn is probably the most shared picture of a Swiss place on social networks after the Matterhorn. Well, I admit, that’s one of the reasons why Appenzell is one of the top destinations for me this summer. But of course the Appenzellerland has much more to offer and I hope to present you one or the other gem during our three-day discovery tour.

Twannbach Gorge – refreshing moments

One of the classics around Lake Biel is the hike from Magglingen through the Twannbach Gorge down to the pretty wine-growing village of Twann. The highlight is clearly the deeply cut gorge, where a previously peacefully babbling river suddenly plunges into the depths in countless thundering waterfalls. Especially on hot summer days a great hike, as it stays cool in the gorge and you can jump into Lake Biel at the end.

Haslital – Forces of Nature Compact

In my opinion, the wild valleys of the Hasli Valley are also among the still unknown insider tips. Away from the “mass tourism” in Interlaken and Grindelwald, there are great excursion destinations for young and old around Meiringen. Above Innterkirchen, for example, there is the almost untouched Urbach valley, from where you can hike through a moorland to the Gaulihütte.

Instagram-Wochentipp:

Instagram unveiled new creative tools this week, expanding the app’s image editing capabilities. However, I have been preferring VSCO CAM for mobile “image optimization” for a long time (because you can’t really call it editing). Which photo editing apps do you use the most?
