InstaTip: My Swiss autumn goals

The trees are decorated with the first golden-yellow leaves, chestnuts lie on the ground, it gets dark again shortly after work and the apple trees bend under the weight of juicy red apples. Hello wonderful autumn! And if you’re thinking, wow, what are they talking about autumn, we still want a little bit of summer, then I’ve prepared the perfect autumn motivational maker for you here. As I did with my summer travel destinations at the beginning of summer, I would now like to tell you which Swiss places are on my radar this autumn.

Malcantone – hilly landscape with gnarled chestnut forests

Between Agno on Lake Lugano and Monte Lema stretches a gently rolling hilly landscape in which idyllically situated Ticino villages are interspersed. The region with promising names “Malcantone” is also known for its extensive chestnut forests. Secluded hiking trails through chestnut groves, panoramic views of Lake Lugano and quaint stone houses – doesn’t that sound fabulous? On my Instagram feed you can see more pictures from the region from next Saturday, because I will follow in the footsteps of the chestnut trees.

Lower Engadine – wandering through intense autumn colours

Wherever there are larch forests, it is particularly colourful in autumn. The beautiful yellow discoloration can be admired, for example, in the Matter Valley or in the Lower Engadine. The so-called larch gold makes the landscape shine in its most magnificent form. In addition, it has been statistically proven that the Engadine has the fewest foggy days in autumn. So let’s go, get out of the grey city routine and off to a relaxing weekend in one of the pretty Engadine mountain villages. My favorite? Guarda.

Binntal – Searching for traces in the Valais idyll

Since 2011, the Binn Valley has been a Regional Landscape Park and is one of the Swiss parks of national importance. I’ve been flirting with a detour to the legendary side valley of Goms, which is also known for its mineral wealth, for a long time. I would love to go on a two-day cross-border hike to Italy. By the way, you can also find more inspiration for this region on Lisi’s Instagram feed – I’m a big fan of her pictures from the Upper Valais.

Klöntal – Indian summer in the Schlitz

Last summer I went in search of the Swiss Indian Summer and found what I was looking for. At the back of the Glarus region on the beautiful Klöntalersee. An ideal day trip for anyone from the greater Zurich area.

Vaud – a multifaceted wonderland

Vaud stretches from Lake Geneva, with its Riviera climate and lush vineyards, to the Jura, where remote plateaus offer pure nature. A special autumn experience is helping with the grape harvest. Another highlight in the region is a hike through the autumnal vineyards in the Lavaux region, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a wonderful view of Lake Geneva.

And now I’m curious about your tip! :) Which place do you particularly like in autumn?
