City trip to Miami South Beach
Miami Beach is unique, diverse, colorful, and ideal for a short break. To give you some ideas of what you can experience, see and enjoy in one day in Miami South Beach, I have put together my favorites for you here.
In the early morning you simply have to take a walk on the beach and this can be continued for miles depending on your mood. If you like to travel a little faster, I recommend renting bicycles at the numerous rental stations (attention only works with credit card).
After a walk on the beach, I’m hungry and for an extensive brunch, Maxine’s (1756 Collins Ave) is my highlight. The breakfast menu includes everything your heart desires and from the outside seats you can watch the action on Collins Avenue while relaxing with a coffee latte.
Lincoln Road is the pedestrian zone in Miami Beach, lined with numerous shops and restaurants to the left and right. The many palm trees and beautifully designed squares provide enough shade and so strolling is really fun. At the end of Lincoln Road, you should take a closer look at the building with the number 1111, because this multi-storey car park with a completely open concrete structure was completed by the well-known Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron in 2010 and shows that parking garages can also be used multifunctionally.
You should definitely spend the evening on Ocean Drive. Many restaurants have a popular happy hour first, followed by dinner. If I now confess which is my favorite restaurant on Ocean Drive, I probably come out as a culinary “trampfoot”. My favorite is the Johnny Rockets with the best hamburgers and the sympathetic down-to-earth appearance. But I can understand if this should cause a certain incomprehension and I am sure that there is something for all tastes along Ocean Drive.
Our Miami Beach hotel just off Ocean Drive
On our first trip to Florida, we realized that you don’t always get a great place to stay in Miami Beach, even for “a lot” of money. This time we opted for a relatively new, smaller boutique hotel, which is located just around the corner from Ocean Drive in an unbeatable location.
Our expectations were fully met this time. A stylishly furnished lobby is followed by beautifully designed individual rooms with that certain extra. Our room had a wooden floor and a really nice bathroom. Wi-Fi is free of charge and you get the code directly with the room key.
Price:
Booked on booking.com for $369/night
Result:
A rather expensive place to stay, although you have to keep in mind that Miami was also “full house” during our stay due to spring break, tennis tournament…. But if you like boutique hotels and are happy to pay a little more, you will certainly be happy here and as I said, the location is phenomenal.
