Tuesday Snapshot – Berlin Oberbaum Bridge

For this Tuesday snapshot I was inspired by Mariella’s post – Oberbaumbrücke in Berlin, Germany. I totally agree with Mariella, a Berlin theme fits wonderfully this week, as everyone is in ITB excitement. I, too, am looking forward to visiting the ITB and getting to know nice travel bloggers and exciting travel ventures. In addition, Berlin is always worth a trip (it will be my 5th visit to Berlin).

This photo of the Oberbaumbrücke is one of my favorite Berlin photos. I think the picture visualizes in a simple way what makes Berlin so exciting – this connection between old and new, historical and modern, past and new beginnings

As part of the inner city ring, the Oberbaumbrücke forms the connection between the districts of Kreuzberge (be sure to visit) and Friedrichshain via the Spree. By the way, the destroyed central section was restored in 1995 according to plans by the architect Santiago Calatrava. In my opinion, this is a successful architectural implementation that fits well into the existing bridge construction.
