Culinary Rapperswil – Golden Eber

Twitter is already a great thing – when I asked for restaurant tips in Rapperswil SG, I got the promising tip from @samsteiner to try the restaurant Goldener Eber. Heard, done, and out of sheer enthusiasm barely 24 hours later I was writing about it.

Why the Golden Boar conquered my heart:

– Small but nice

– Great ambience

– Nice service

– Simple menu selection (why complicated when it can be simple)

– Use of local, seasonal products

– There is homemade iced tea (my ultimate quality check)

The menu concept is simple and that’s why I like it. There is a choice of a 5-course monthly menu with meat (65 CHF) and a vegetarian menu (54 CHF). We enjoyed the following dishes:

–          Randen-Sauerrahmsuppe

– Homemade Hinkelstein leek ravioli with saffron broth

– Peppermint sorbet with absinthe

– Glarus lamb starter with potato pancakes

– Crème brûlée

It is also worth mentioning that the Golden Boar organizes interesting cultural events from time to time. On Thursday 21 March, for example, there will be a “Cinema to Eat”, where the film “Night on Earth” will be shown and matching food will be served.
