Let it pop!

I hope you will all enjoy Friday and the festivities today with great weather (!). What do you actually do on the national holiday – Buurezmorge (and if so, where can you get the tastiest?), hut romance with mountain fires, really loud and gaudy in the city or would you rather escape abroad?

I brought forward the national holiday, so to speak, last Saturday in Spiez. The Seenachtfest 2013 took place there with a great fireworks display at the end. That’s why I can a) show you bright fireworks pictures early in the morning and b) tell you my ultimate national holiday insider tip.

If you don’t have any plans yet or spontaneously feel like throwing them overboard, you should drive to Sigriswil (above Merligen on Lake Thun) in the evening. From up there you can enjoy a magnificent view of the beautiful Lake Thun and the opposite bay of Spiez as well as the impressive Alpine panorama. By the way, this insider tip does not only apply to fireworks voyeurism, but also to fantastic sunset moods. As soon as the sun has finished letting off steam, you have all the bonfires and fireworks around the lake perfectly in your field of vision without being in the middle of the gaudy action.

Last Saturday, all the sparkling ships in the bay of Spiez also created a great atmosphere. In droves, the happy boat owners enjoyed the fireworks up close. As soon as it was over, the points of light darted away in all directions.

With that in mind – celebrate nicely and let it pop!
