My favorite Budapest photo spots

Our city trip to Budapest was more than a year ago and yet I never managed to show you our favorite Budapest photo spots. During our visit, the Hungarian capital presented itself in the thickest November grey. The view from the Buda Castle District over the opposite plain from the Pest district was nil. But winter dreariness can’t harm the charm of Budapest. You can warm up in one of the numerous coffee houses – in addition to the traditional ones, there are also many newcomers who have mastered coffee roasting down to the last detail. In the trendy district of Elisabethstadt, for example, the smell of the Blue Bird Café roastery lures passers-by into a backyard shed where freshly roasted coffee is sold. In addition to the coffee houses, it is worth taking a look at St. Stephen’s Basilica. The magnificent neo-Gothic building of the parliament building and the historic central market hall also offer exciting motifs for the camera, even on grey winter days.

At what is probably the most popular photo spot at the Fisherman’s Bastion on the castle hill, we only stopped briefly. In good lighting conditions, a guarantee for beautiful panoramic pictures of Budapest. On grey November days, the view is much less. Instead, we strolled through the alleys of Buda’s Castle Hill and discovered some beautiful corners where no parked cars “disturbed” the flair. Our photographic highlight started with the onset of darkness. From the Castle Palace, there is a beautiful view of the Chain Bridge and St. Stephen’s Basilica in the background – the perfect blue-hour photo opportunity. Afterwards you can take a leisurely walk over the Chain Bridge, along the banks of the Danube in Pest to Margaret Island. From here, the beautifully illuminated magnificent buildings along the banks of the Danube can be beautifully photographed as an ensemble.
