Dubrovnik – dream city with a wide range of cultural offerings

The city is located in the south of Croatia and is not called the Pearl of the Adriatic for nothing. No wonder, the charming place is considered a beauty in the Mediterranean. The city on the Adriatic also offers many sights. A highlight is the old quarter of Dubrovnik, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors enter the old town, which was built between the 12th and 17th centuries, through the historic Pile Gate. If you want, you can walk around the town on the 1,940 meter long city wall for a fee. From here you have a wonderful view of the harbor, the Rector’s Palace and the medieval Franciscan monastery. The well-known Stradun promenade adjoins the car-free old town. The street, which was built in the 11th century, is now framed by baroque houses and, in addition to shops, offers numerous restaurants and cafés that invite you to linger.

Relax on the beaches during your Dubrovnik city vacation

Just a few steps from Dubrovnik’s Old Town, travelers will find some very beautiful beaches. Popular destinations as the weather in the city is Mediterranean. With warm temperatures and around 250 days of sunshine a year, the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean invite you to swim. In front of the impressive backdrop of Dubrovnik, this is a very special pleasure. Small offshore islands, such as Lokrum and Lopud, can be easily reached by ferry from the city. The idyllic island of Lokrum also offers a wonderful botanical garden with hundreds of exotic plants and trees. After one or more days on the island, Dubrovnik beckons again with a change, the local mountain Brdo Srd. The climb to the 412 meter high Sergiusberg can be done either on a hiking trail or by car. You can easily reach the summit with the cable car. The panoramic view of the coastal town that lies at visitors’ feet from this height is fantastic.
