Travel snapshot – Boston in 360° view

“$15 for a bit of a view! Aren’t they completely tight?!” At full volume, the American wearing a Red Sox fan shirt was annoyed by the high entrance fees to the Skywalk Observatory in the Prudential Center and left the point of sale without buying tickets. Well, 15 dollars is not little, but thanks to the favorable exchange rate, it is not quite as painful for us as it is for the young gentleman.

The Skywalk Observatory is located at the top of the Prudential Tower, the second tallest building in Boston. By the way, when the building was completed in 1964, it was the tallest building in the USA (outside of New York). Today, it is not even one of the 50 tallest buildings… Access to the observation deck is located in the shopping center below in the Back Bay neighborhood. Tickets must be purchased there.

Is the $15 worth it? In my opinion, definitely. The viewing platform is completely behind glass panes, but they are well cleaned ;). The view over Boston to the many small Boston Harbour Islands is overwhelming. You also have a good view of the John Hancock Tower – Boston’s tallest building. An audio guide is included in the ticket price. I don’t really like these guides, but this one contains some very interesting contributions to the respective viewpoints.

Would you pay the $15 for this view?
