Dublin – Fáilte and walked in

My Ireland travel bug was awakened last autumn in London by two real Irishmen. So Dublin was declared by me as the top destination for this year and now the trip is already over. Unfortunately, much too fast, as always. But after the trip is, as so often, before the trip and I took home a lot of ideas in my suitcase about what else you could do in Ireland. In addition to all the ideas, I also have many pictures from the charming Dublin and the surrounding area, which I don’t want to withhold from you. In the next few weeks I will probably :) you “kidnapped” to Ireland more than once. Welcome for now and walk in (you can choose the right door yourself)!

From Zurich, both Swiss and Aer Lingus fly directly to Dublin once a day. The choice is therefore limited (unless you do not take a direct flight). Aer Lingus has the cheaper base price, but if you then want to check in a suitcase, the price differences are only marginal. We then chose Swiss, after all, I still hope that collecting miles will bring something (…).

We had planned our trip in such a way that we were in Dublin at the same time as TBEX, the biggest travel blogger (or as they say “New Media Creators”) conference. The TBEX aims to bring travel bloggers and industry together – networking is the buzzword. Anyone who knows me knows that networking is not one of my favorite disciplines. Nevertheless, it was quite nice to see dear blogger friends once again (or finally for the first time) and to chat. Some inputs were also super exciting. Personally, I am a big Instagram fan and found the lecture by Katja Presnal (skimbaco) on the topic “How To Work with Instagram Influencers to Create Effective Instagram Strategies” enriching. So much enthusiasm and ideas – great! By the way, her project “Instagram Travel Thursday” will also be hosted in German in the future. If you would like to become part of the German-speaking hoster team, please feel free to contact me.

By the way, the friend was also quite happy that I was taken care of for two days at the conference. This allowed him to discover the most beautiful corners of Dublin at his leisure. Lovers of beautiful buildings and doors should definitely check out Georgian Dublin. Especially around Fitzwilliam Square, there are doors in all colors to marvel at. Since there are companies in most of the buildings, you should either go on a photo tour early in the morning or later in the evening. Throughout the day, employees spend their smoking breaks in front of the doors and disturb the motif ;).

By the way: I booked my flight tickets via Skyscanner (part of the costs were covered by Skyscanner). Amazingly, I had the better seats than when I book directly with Swiss – namely seat row 7 on the outward flight and 9 on the return flight. Since you have to go through customs on a flight to Dublin (or back from Dublin) (always ;) these exceptions), it is still practical to get off the plane quickly. Usually I always get a seat in the back (I don’t know why).
