The 55 best & beautifuel hotels and overnight stays in Switzerland
This page offers you a geographically located overview of beautiful and special hotels, hostels and alpine huts in Swiss holiday regions at a glance. But how did this come about?
Can you recommend me a special, beautifully located hotel for a short break?
These and similar questions are regularly asked of me. Be it from family members and friends or from blog readers who know that I have already tested my way through a few hotels and hostels. And so the idea has been buzzing through my head for a long time to put together a list of particularly recommendable accommodations, analogous to our overview of great Swiss excursion destinations. Just by researching the book for our book “Culinary Time Travels”, published in 2017, we gained an insight into 54 Swiss hotels steeped in history. In addition, there have been countless weekend trips over the last eight years with many great places to stay. It’s difficult to make a selection.
I hereby present you my carefully curated overview of particularly beautiful and special Swiss hotels, hostels, bed & breakfasts and alpine huts. My focus in the selection was on places where you can not only relax, but also enjoy fantastic nature experiences all around. The list is structured as follows.
- Charming (mountain) hotels and hostels
- Boutique and wellness hotels for a pampering weekend
- Special Sleeping Places – Special Overnight Stays
- Mountain huts and alpine huts
- Hotels on my bucket list
Except the last category, I have visited all the accommodations listed here myself. But I would rather not withhold the last category from you either – because every now and then I also get tips in the sense of “you should definitely go there” or discover an accommodation tip while leafing through a magazine or surfing the WWW, which I make a note of for a “later”.
I hope this compilation will help you find a suitable place to stay. For each hotel you will find a short description below the map and at the end of the post there are a few link tips to sites that I consult as part of the search for ideas.
Charming hotels and hostels:
1. Art.Boutique Hotel Beau-Séjour – Boutique Hotel in Champéry
Located in the heart of the village of Champéry, the 3-star Art.Boutique.Hotel Beau-Séjour has been put into an incredible amount of heart and soul by the host couple Sophie and Philippe Zurkirchen. The combination of an old chalet in the typical architectural style of the valley and modernly renovated rooms designed with attention to detail has been a success. The price range here ranges from 190 to 350 per night for a double room (whereby we are talking about 350 as a Penthouse Junior Suite, with Jacuzzi).
Champéry is a great biking and hiking destination in summer (and also the starting point for the multi-day tour of the Dents du Midi) and in winter it is part of the cross-border Portes du Soleil ski area.
2. Auberge du Mouton
For me, the Auberge du Mouton embodies the perfect combination of time-honoured walls and modern, light-flooded rooms. The restaurant on the ground floor is just as charming as the rooms. A wonderful place to stay to get to know the diverse landscape of Ajoie better. Prices for a double room range from CHF 130 (standard) to CHF 200 (junior suite) per night.
3. Bella Tola – Charming Hotel
As a guest, you immediately notice that the operation of the Hotel Bella Tola in Val d’Anniviers is a true affair of the heart of the owner couple. The interior of the historic hotel has been carefully renovated with great refinement. The rooms are furnished differently depending on the style – but in almost all of them you can enjoy the magnificent view around the surrounding mighty three- and four-thousand-metre peaks. In addition to the hotel rooms, there is also the possibility to spend the night in rustic residences in the middle of the village or in intimate togetherness in a wonderful nostalgic mountain hut. The Bella Tola also has a small, fine spa area. Overnight prices start at 190 CHF for a double room.
4. Berghotel Mettmen
In December 2016, the new Berghotel Mettmen was opened at the Garichti reservoir in Glarus South. The hotel can only be reached on foot or by cable car and is in a wonderful location to discover the Freiberg Kärpf – the oldest wildlife reserve in Europe. The reference to the place runs like a red thread through the interior design. Although the standard of the rooms is primarily simple and functional, the Berghotel Mettmen knows how to inspire with extras such as the small, fine wellness area. The price of accommodation here includes luxury board and ranges from 131 to 244 francs (depending on the room standard and the season).
5. Berghotel Obersteinberg
The Berghotel Obersteinberg is one of my “all-time favourites”. One of the reasons for this is that the overnight stay here can be combined with a wonderful 2-day mountain tour through the rear Lauterbrunnen Valley. Either way, to reach the candle hotel, you need your own muscle power. The hotel is only open during the summer months (usually from the end of May to the end of September). An overnight stay including half board costs 93 CHF in a double room (in a dormitory it is about 20 CHF cheaper).
6. Bridge 49
Bridge 49 should not be missing from my list of favorites. This charming bed and breakfast in Vals in Graubünden is a true oasis of relaxation. Fortunately, in the meantime, three more hostel rooms have been added to the four guest rooms. And by the way, the real highlight here is the rich breakfast (current costs on request)!
7. Chartreuse
The Chartreuse in Hünibach is well known to the locals. After a change of ownership in 2015, the new host invested a lot in the gentle renovation of the venerable inn. In addition to a casual restaurant concept that is entirely dedicated to Italian cuisine, the Chartreuse also surprises with refreshed hotel rooms (prices around 200 CHF for an overnight stay in a double room). The furnishings are kept minimal – but have nice details in store and anyway – no one spends a lot of time in the room here, because there is a lot to discover around Lake Thun.
8. Grimsel Hospice
In the blog post “Grimsel Hospice as a place of longing”, I describe in detail why I am enthusiastic about the alpine hotel on the Grimsel Pass. While the Grimsel Hospice is a special place for a break in winter as well as in summer (from the beginning of June) – alone or as a couple – the partner hotel Handeck is especially appealing to families. Two top accommodation options in the middle of the fascinating Grimsel world.
9. Hotel des Londres
Even though I focus primarily on hotels close to nature in this compilation, the Hotel des Londres should not be missing. The boutique hotel in Brig impresses with casually designed rooms, a family atmosphere and an ideal location for active days in the Upper Valais. The cost of a night in a double room starts at 168 CHF.
10. Hotel Fex
If you have never been to Val Fex, you should take a closer look at the Hotel Fex. The quiet Upper Engadine side valley branches off in a southerly direction at Sils Maria and leads to Alp Muot Selvas. About halfway along the route – at almost 2,000 metres above sea level – is the rustic Hotel Fex. Here you can definitely slow down wonderfully and enjoy the magnificent nature right outside the hotel door on foot or by mountain bike. The rooms are gently renovated – the patina is noticeable everywhere and that’s exactly what makes Hotel Fex stand out. Prices include half board and start at CHF 260 per night for a double room.
11. Hotel Ofenhorn
Another nostalgic gem can be found in the hiking paradise of Binntal. At the Hotel Ofenhorn in Binn, the spirit of the pioneering days of the Swiss hotel industry can still be felt today. What I like best here are the beautifully renovated Belle Époque rooms – the overnight cost here is 99 CHF per person per night. It is a little cheaper to spend the night in the smaller comfort rooms.
12. Berghotel Schwarenbach
Simple, friendly – that’s exactly what the Berghotel Schwarenbach is all about, which is located on what was once the most frequented Alpine pass. The hike from the Sunnbüel mountain station near Kandersteg via Daubensee to the Gemmi Pass is an absolute hiking classic. The mountain hotel is located halfway along a fork in the hiking trail. It is therefore up to you whether you follow the leisurely path towards the Gemmi Pass the next morning, or tackle the more challenging route over the Tschingellochtighorn to the Engstligenalp. The 5 double rooms are usually well booked in summer – the price is 120 CHF per person/night (it is cheaper to sleep in the shared rooms or in the dormitory).
13. Hotel Waldrand-Pochtenalp
In the guild of nostalgic mountain hotels, the Hotel Waldrand-Pochtenalp should not be missing. Here, too, all signs point to “pure nature”. A hike through the imposing and pleasantly cool Gries Gorge or on the challenging ascent to the Hohtürli. Whereby hiking here is actually only an encore – because the beautiful sun terrace is also a wonderful place to linger (and snort a sinfully fine piece of cake).
14. Hotel Wetterhorn
A time-out at the Hotel Wetterhorn inspires the mind – the young team, the foresight and the fine food ensure a good mood. A hotel for gourmets who not only like to be pampered, but are also active on the road. The prices for a double room including Hasliberger breakfast start at an absolutely reasonable 129 CHF.
15. Lenk Lodge
Eleven individually designed rooms and a breakfast buffet that scores with regionality. Lenk Lodge is a particularly good place to “just be”. If you are undecided about which hike suits you best or where the most beautiful bike trails are, ask the local Lenk Lodge team for tips. And if you return to the lodge after a sporty day, you can relax in a deck chair in the garden on nice days or snuggle up in front of the tiled stove in rainy weather. The prices for a double room vary between 160 and 360 CHF depending on the room size/equipment.
16. Genusshotel Nest- und Bietschorn
In the Lötschental hamlet of Ried, the stone-built house stands out among all the sun-tanned granaries. Hospitality has a long tradition at the Genusshotel Nest- und Bietschhorn. The hotel is ideally located for exploring the Lötschental on extended hiking tours. If you return to the hotel hungry, you will be spoiled by Chef Laurent Huber’s Cuisine Fraîcheur. The Michelin Guide has awarded his cuisine a Bib Gourmand. Since our last visit, the hotel has also completely renovated and refreshed 10 of the 15 rooms.
17. Nühus
The Nühus is a refuge for stressed city dwellers. The bed and breakfast is located in an old Walser house on a sun terrace high above Safien Platz – in the middle of the Beverin Nature Park. In front of the sun-tanned wooden façade, the sun loungers in the flowery garden await guests returning from a hike. Inside, the Nühus impresses with carefully placed historical furniture in combination with the clear signature of the Graubünden architect Rudolf Olgiati, who renovated the house for the first time in the 1960s. The double room costs CHF 195 for double occupancy – and a 3-course menu for CHF 38 is served in the evening by appointment.
18. Laresch Pension
The Pensiun Laresch is the modern counterpart to the Nühus. The striking building meets the latest building ecology and energy requirements and stands in exciting contrast to the mountain world. The large windows offer wonderful views of the larch forests and the idyllic town centre of Mathon – also part of the Beverin Nature Park. The seven rooms of the mountain lodge are all generously sized – in addition, a two-bedroom apartment is on offer. Prices for a double room start at 189 CHF per night.
19. Riffelhaus 1853
The Riffelhaus is characterized by its unique location vis-à-vis the mountain of all mountains – the Matterhorn. In addition to the ultimate postcard view, guests also benefit from the fact that the extensive Zermatt network of hiking trails passes right in front of the hotel door and only 200 metres in altitude separate you from Lake Riffelsee. In my opinion, the real highlight is the outdoor whirlpool, where you can let your tired muscles bubble through with a view of the Matthorn. Like everything in Zermatt, the night in the Riffelhaus has its price – a night in a double room starts at 409 CHF.
20. Wartegg Castle
It is also very good to relax at the Bio-Schlosshotel Wartegg on the Rorschacherberg. Situated in an elevated position in the middle of a huge park, I am inspired by the creative cuisine of chef Sandro Zimmermann and his team. In summer, the majority of herbs, vegetables and berries from the castle’s own biodynamic garden are used. It is particularly nice to sleep in the fireplace room, which is furnished with fine St. Gallen silk and cotton from the textile company Christian Fischbacher. In this room, the night costs between 295 and 355 CHF – the prices of the normal double rooms start at 205 CHF.
21. Terrace by the lake – Beautiful lakeside hotel in Switzerland
If you check in at the Hotel Terrasse am See, you can hope that not too many guests have moved into a room before you. If there are still different rooms to choose from, then owner Pia Nussbaumer usually leaves the key basket to you and you can choose your own “favourite room”. Not an easy task – because each room has its own charm. Even if the standard at the Hotel Terrasse am See is simple, you will find everything you need for a short holiday on Lake Lucerne. Room rates range from 150 to 230 CHF for double occupancy, depending on the category.
22. Villa Carona
I don’t think I’ve recommended a hotel as often as Villa Carona. The 200-year-old Ticino patrician house with a magnificent garden in the Ticino artists’ village of the same name is always a good choice. I don’t need to say much more at this point – my blog post, written almost six years ago, still best conveys the emotions I associate with this place. Double rooms cost between 180 and 320 CHF per night. In terms of price, a double room at Villa Carona costs at least 180 CHF per night.
23. Waldhaus Bettmeralp
The Waldhaus is somewhat hidden by mighty fir trees right next to the Bettmeralp mountain station. In recent years, the hotel has invested a lot in the renovation and, among other things, has created wonderfully spacious solid wood rooms with solid moonwood – with great attention to detail! From here, you can explore the fantastic mountain world of the Aletsch Arena (from CHF 162 per night in a double room).
For the pampering weekend
24. Waldhaus Flims
If you want to pamper yourself or your loved ones for a few days, the Waldhaus Flims Mountain Resort & Spa is the place to be. With its more than 3,000 m² spa area, the resort is one of the best wellness hotels in Europe. The modern building with lots of glass and quartzite already convinces visually and sets a successful contrast to the historic hotel complex. With an indoor pool, outdoor adventure pool, natural swimming pond, various saunas and steam baths, you will find everything your wellness heart desires. Overnight rates start at 429 CHF per night in a double room.
25. Bellevue Adelboden
Located in the middle of the charming Bernese Oberland village, the almost 100-year-old Bellevue Parkhotel & Spa presents itself in youthful freshness. The traditional house with its garden pavilion is surrounded by a well-kept park – there is no shortage of secluded retreats here. I also have fond memories of the light-flooded rooms, including skilfully placed design classics, and the wonderful outdoor brine pool with the most wonderful mountain views. In the spirit of “arrive and enjoy! The cost of a double room here starts at 360 CHF per night.
26. Castell Zuoz
The 4-star superior Castell Zuoz is enthroned like a defiant fortress high above the pretty Engadine village. Around 100 years after the architect Nicolaus Hartmann designed the mighty outer walls, the hotel has been transformed into a meeting place for people interested in culture. Art is omnipresent at Castell Zuoz – be it the contemporary works that transform corridors into galleries, colorful and funny installations that are spread across the hotel, or the furniture partly designed by artists, such as the red bar by Pipilotti Rist, the outdoor terrace by Tadashi Kawamata or – my personal highlight and magnet – the Skyspace Piz Uter by James Turrell. In addition, this is the ideal base for hiking through the fantastic mountains of the Engadine. Overnight rates start at around CHF 235 per night in a double room.
27. CERVO Mountain Boutique Resort
Zermatt not only boasts the Matterhorn, but also some casual accommodations and restaurants. In addition to the Riffelhaus, one of my favourite places here is the Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort – be it the casual outdoor lounge, the two excellent restaurants Ferdinand and Puro or the stylishly furnished chalets; a successful mix of coolness and chic throughout. By the way, the Cervo also has five comfortably furnished apartments, which can be booked at attractive prices (less than CHF 250 per night) depending on the season.
28. Chandolin Boutique Hotel – Unique boutique hotel in Switzerland
Our latest discovery: The Chandolin Boutique Hotel is located at 1,900 metres above sea level in the centre of the mountain village of the same name – one of the highest permanently inhabited mountain villages in Europe. The private investor Esteban Garcia, who is passionate about architecture and design, took up the challenge of taking over an existing hotel in need of renovation and breathing new life into it with a comprehensive renovation and redesign. Not only was emphasis placed on particularly energy-efficient construction in accordance with Minergie standards, but local companies were also deliberately involved in order to strengthen the region in the long term. From the charming chalet building to the pleasant natural materials to the invitingly bright hotel rooms with magnificent views, this is a thoroughly successful project – and with overnight prices starting at CHF 185 for a double room, it is absolutely fairly priced in a cross-comparison.
29. Chetzeron – Overnight stay on the mountain
The Hotel Chetzeron is proof that the creative conversion of existing infrastructure buildings can be worthwhile. The striking stone-grey cube was once the top station of a gondola lift. After this was no longer needed due to the commissioning of a new lift, the facility stood empty for a long time – until it was awakened from its slumber and transformed into a unique retreat. Among the highlights of the design hotel is the rooftop pool and the fantastic mountain scenery! Prices for a double room start at 320 CHF per night.
30. Guarda Val – Perfect for a romantic weekend in Switzerland
Whether you like hiking, enjoy a fine meal or simply want to unwind: the Maiensässhotel Guarda Val in Lenzerheide is sure to meet your requirements. As the name of the hotel suggests, the Guarda Val is integrated as a matter of course into the Mäiensäss village of Vaz not far from Lenzerheide. You can sleep in rustic, pine-scented alpine huts and a hay bed awaits you in the spa for relaxation. In the shepherd’s room (cheapest category), a night costs 325 CHF in the summer season.
31. Hotel Glacier Grindelwald
Around Grindelwald, countless kilometres of spectacular hiking trails are waiting to be discovered. Since the reopening of the Hotel and Restaurant Glacier, there is now also a real stylish place to stay in the village as a base for an active mountain weekend. Justine and Jan Pyott acquired the hotel in 2017 and, during an intensive renovation phase, adapted the premises to today’s needs and a 4-star standard. As a basis for the redesign, the two carefully compiled the history of the house and derived the guiding idea for the redesign from it. The result is convincing! For one night in a double room, at least 320 CHF should be included in the budget.
32. Hotel Palafitte – Bungalow directly on the lake
Maldives feeling on Lake Neuchâtel? Hotel Palafitte’s 24 lakeside pavilions, all perched on stilts above the water, rival exotic destinations. The 5-star hotel was built in 2002 as part of Expo.02. The buildings are not only a tribute to the prehistoric pile dwellings, but are also oriented in such a way as to guarantee an unobstructed view over Lake Neuchâtel to the top of Mont Blanc from every point. With an area of almost 60m2, the rooms of the bungalows are spacious and from the terrace you can jump directly into Lake Neuchâtel – if the temperatures are right. With nightly rates of over 500 CHF per night for the lake pavilions, it is one of the most expensive houses in my list of favorites.
33. Kurhaus Cademario
For me, the Kurhaus Cademario is one of the most surprising hotel discoveries of recent years. Somehow, I had imagined something “conservative” under this name. But the Kurhaus Cademario is not only a great starting point for hikes in Malcantone. It inspires us with beautiful rooms, a wonderful view of Lake Lugano and a great wellness area. Room rates start at 150 CHF per night (seasonally variable).
Special overnight stays in Switzerland
34. Treehouse Jura – Overnight stay in a treehouse in Switzerland
Tree houses are able to fascinate children and adults alike – and are accordingly very popular when it comes to a night in a particularly unusual accommodation. There are two places in the Jura where you can spend the night surprisingly comfortably in the middle of the treetops. On the one hand, there is the tree house at the Saignélegier campsite, which can accommodate up to five people on 36 m² (cost 150 CHF per night). On the outskirts of Le Locle, there are four nests – “Nids” – waiting for adventure seekers. Prices range from 160 to 180 CHF (depending on the date).
35. Saint Martin’s Day – Two Special Nights
A night under the stars or in a wooden barrel? Why not. In the wildly romantic Walser settlement of Sankt Martin in the Calfeisental, the 1,000,000,000 star bed (from 150 CHF) and the residential barrel (from 80 CHF) provide extraordinary sleeping experiences. Otherwise, you can also spend the night in Sankt Martin in wonderfully rustic rooms or in your “own” alpine hut. On top of that, in the middle of the historic Walser settlement, a barrel sauna and a hotpot invite you to relax in nature.
36. Dream Tubes, WunderBar – Adventure Hotel
With a fun overnight option, the WunderBar in Arbon also scores. Located right next to the Saurer Museum on Lake Constance, it impressed me with its cool restaurant/bar area as well as the two “dream tubes” placed in the secluded garden. In each of the massive concrete barrels (which weigh an impressive ten tons) there is a cozy double bed with reading lamps. The night in the dream tube costs 140 CHF for two including breakfast.
37. Tree Tents Fräkmüntegg
Back to sweet dreams under a thick canopy of leaves – since 2017, it has been possible to spend the night in floating tents – Tree Tents – on the Fräkmüntegg on the flanks of Lucerne’s local mountain Pilatus in the summer months. In addition to dinner and breakfast, the experience also includes exclusive access to the rope park, which is located right next to it. The adventure package costs CHF 140 for adults, including train ride Kriens-Fräkmüntegg-Kriens.
38. Walig Hut
The legendary Gstaad Palace has a truly exclusive accommodation offer up its sleeve. The luxury hotel also includes an authentic Saaneland alpine hut built in 1783. The rustic bijou is located at 1,700 metres above sea level above Gsteig, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and promises romantic togetherness. The hut can be booked for an exclusive lunch or dinner, but also for an overnight stay (maximum two adults and two children). An oasis to celebrate significant moments.
Beautiful alpine huts for circular hikes:
39. Alp Oberchäseren
Alp Oberchäseren is located directly on the Toggenburg High Trail, which leads from Wildhaus to Wil in six stages. Mattstock on the left, spear on the right – the mountain scenery up here is phenomenal. You can spend the night in a simple dormitory (room Mattstock with 12 places and room Speer with 28 (subdivided) places). Adults pay 55 CHF for an alpine hut sleep (including dinner and breakfast). And if you miss the shower after a hot summer’s day, you can enjoy genuine alpine wellness for an extra 5 CHF.
40. Anenhütte
At the very end of the majestic Lötschental, a modern mountain accommodation awaits you – like a boulder. All those who dread the snoring concert in the shared room can breathe a sigh of relief. The Anenhütte was designed from the ground up to perform the balancing act between a simple mountain hut and a comfortable mountain hotel. And so, in addition to the classic sleeping comfort for a mountain hut in hut beds/multi-bed rooms, there are also three exclusive suite categories to choose from. The price ranges from 125 CHF to 325 CHF (per person).
41. Bollenwees Mountain Inn
The Bollenwees mountain inn is located in the middle of the beautiful Alpstein on the shores of Lake Fählensee. Like a fjord, the mountain flanks rise steeply into the sky to the left and right. A beautiful hiking tour leads from the Hoher Kasten along the ridge to the Bollenwees mountain inn and at the other end of the lake there is a small alp with cheesemakers. The best place to sleep is in the “Fählensee” double room (85 CHF per person) – alternatively, you can spend the night in one of the dormitories for less than 50 CHF per night.
42. Susanfe’s Hut
The Cabane de Susanfe is one of the original SAC huts – without any fancy additions or conversions, it scores with simple hut romance in the midst of a wonderful alpine backdrop. The overnight stay in the Cabane de Susanfe (half board costs 65 CHF for non-SAC members) can be combined with various (sometimes cross-border) multi-day tours. These include the region’s two popular “Grand Tours”; the three- to four-day Tour des Dents du Midi and the three- to five-day Tour des Dents Blanches.
43. Chamanna Cluozza
The massive log cabin in the wild Val Cluozza is the only hosted hut in the Swiss National Park. From Zernez you can reach the hut on a varied and technically not difficult hiking trail in a good three hours (also doable with children who are used to hikes). If you hike here, you should definitely pack binoculars – from the sun terrace in front of the hut you can observe the wildlife native to the national park with patience – and luck. Overnight rates range from 66 to 82 CHF.
44. Geltenhütte
A beautiful and technically not very demanding mountain path leads from Lake Lauenen through the Gelten-Iffigen nature reserve – always with the thunderous Geltenschuss in view – in about two hours to the sympathetic Geltenhütte. On the one hand, it is a nice stopover on a leisurely circular hike through the Lauenen Valley or serves as a starting point for more challenging mountain tours – including the more than four-hour hike over the Arpelistock to the Sanetsch Pass. For SAC members, the overnight stay costs 64 CHF – non-members pay 76 CHF.
45. Leglerhütte
Many paths also lead to the Leglerhütte in Glarus. Popular with day-trippers and families, the Leglerhütte is also a phenomenal destination to enjoy the far-reaching view over the Glarus region after a beautiful day of hiking and to tackle the summit of the Gross Käpf or the Kärpf Trek early the next morning – but beware: the Freiberg Kärpf certainly has one or two tricky passages in store. By the way, there are also very comfortable double rooms and multi-bed rooms to choose from in the Leglerhütte for overnight stays.
Personal Bucket List:
And last but not least, I don’t want to withhold my personal bucket list from you. In my research for casual excursions, hikes and short breaks, I always discover outstanding and passionately run hotels and hostels that I would like to visit. And especially in times like these, when plans become obsolete and we have to take them day by day, I find idea lists very helpful.
46. Hotel Maderanertal
My heart beats undeniably for nostalgic mountain hotels – they are not always styled from A to Z and not always “perfectly instagrammable”, but for me they are symbolic of deceleration. One of these venerable inns with a noticeable patina is the Hotel Maderanertal in the canton of Uri.
47. Hotel Rosenlaui
And at the Hotel Rosenlaui in the Hasli Valley, too, time seems to have stood still almost 100 years ago.
48. Berghotel Waldhaus Gasterntal
The number three in this series also embodies originality and is also located on the promising-sounding Lötschberg Panorama Trail. The Berghotel Waldhaus Gasterntal seems to me like a counterpart to the Berggasthaus Obersteinberg
49. Hotel Piz Linard
The Hotel Piz Linard in Lavin skilfully bridges the gap between historic ambience and modern lifestyle. Individually furnished rooms, innovative cultural programmes and a tangible connection to the place. Sounds good!
50. In the Spycher
Probably the most homely and at the same time most chic holiday apartment on Lake Lucerne! Who doesn’t dream at the sight of the Spycher?
51. Burgdorf Youth Hostel
Burgdorf Castle is being converted into a lively cultural venue. In addition to a museum, there is now also a Swiss Youth Hostel behind the castle walls – the perfect base for discovering the beautiful Emmental by bike.
In the meantime I visited the Jugi in Burgdorf – you can find the experience report of our bike tour through the canton of Bern including an insight into the new chic youth rooms here: on the heart route from Laupen to Burgdorf
52. Locanda Fior di Campo
In a side valley of the Vallemaggia hides a refuge for architecture and nature lovers. The pictures of the Locanda Fior di Campo awaken the desire for a break in the Ticino mountains.
In the meantime, I have also scouted out this accommodation and brought back tips for a break in the Maggia Valley.
53. Maison Bergdorf
Maison Bergdorf is a boutique bed and breakfast in Interlaken and wow – it looks pretty!
54. Ustria Steila
Built by the Graubünden architect Gion A. Caminada and run by an experienced host couple – the Ustria Steila in Siat in Graubünden seems to be the perfect place to ground stressed city dwellers.
55. Villa Flor
11 years ago, the former patrician house in S-chanf was carefully renovated and converted into a boutique guesthouse with seven rooms. In Villa Flor, the charm of days long gone lives on and mixes with the lightness of the here and now.
