Travel snapshot – beach time

Salou is said to resemble the Ballermann beaches on Mallorca in midsummer. That’s what I was told. Well, we definitely didn’t meet too many people on this first weekend in June. The almost deserted stretch of beach triggered a melancholic mood in me rather than acute party fever.

Salou is located about an hour south of Barcelona (with good rail connections to Barcelona-Sants) next to PortAventura, the largest Catalan leisure resort with a water park and wild roller coasters. A colleague with a birthday and a high affinity for amusement parks were the reasons why I ended up here. However, I gave up the park fun and preferred to spend the time on the beach. Good choice, right?

But I would also be interested to know what the beach actually looks like in midsummer. Have any of you ever been there? If so, please send me some Ballermann cliché pictures :).
